‘Salt’ is a working collection of paintings focussed around the various forms of salt found on
land and sea, some obvious some less so. From the inland deserts of Australia to the icy blue
depths of the Antarctic Peninsula salt in varying quantities fosters both life and death, creating
extraordinary patterns on both landscape and on skin. We are a people of a continent
surrounded by, and thereby connected to, salt. The dramatic colours and residue of salt lakes
and ponds across the country, coastal rock-pools and beaches, ocean depths and leached
landscapes attest to its presence and power.
